2027 photo exhibit!
The Grand Prairie Bird Alliance is hosting a Bird Photography Exhibition at the Normal Public Library!

How To:
1. You are free to use various types of frames and mattes. The maximum outside dimensions of the frame is 16" x 20". There is no minimum size.
2. You can submit up to 5 photos to Tristan Bishop at the library, and she will narrow them down for display. (Email grandprairiebirdalliance@gmail.com for Tristan's email address.) As usual, this is not a contest, and no one will have more than three photos up. We need to spread the love around!
3. In previous years, the GPBA set up an online portal for paying entry fees. We aren’t doing that this year for various reasons and will simply trust that you will ensure your membership is up to date and pay the usual fee of $5 for one photo, $10 for three photos, and $20 for five photos. The total dollar amount can be submitted as a donation through the GPBA donation portal. If you have questions about this, email the Bird Alliance at the email above.
4. When you email photos to Tristan, you’ll need to include the following information for each photo - common name of the bird, scientific name of the bird, where it was taken, and what year it was taken. All photos must have been taken in Central Illinois.
5. If you want to sell your photos, make note of that in your email to Tristan, including the price and the manner in which you want to be contacted. The sale would be coordinated between you and the buyer, and you’d have to leave the photo up until the end of the show. We ask that you donate 15% of the proceeds to the Bird Alliance through the same donation portal.
Detailed Timeline:
Monday, October 26 - Deadline to email photos to Tristan
Monday, November 9 - Tristan will alert photographers as to the photo selection
Sunday, November 29 - Deadline to submit framed photographs to the library
Monday, November 30 - Framed photos hung by library staff
Tuesday, December 1 - Exhibit starts
Sunday, January 31 - Exhibit ends
Monday, February 1 - Photos taken down. No early pickups will be permitted.
Tristan will send out an email to those whose photographs are selected, with specifics on signing a waiver, deadline to bring in the framed photo(s), deadline to remove, etc.
